The Best Superfoods for Healthy Skin

What we eat has an impact on our health as well as our skin appearance. Rather than reaching out for skin products off the shelf, we can use our diet to rejuvenate, take care of, and treat our skin. A healthy diet leads to positive results in the long-term. The things we consume have a great impact on the general condition and appearance of our skin. A poor diet could lead to dry skin in both genders, make your skin appear lifeless and dull, the formation of wrinkles as well as dark circles around the eyes.
There are certain foods that contain the essential elements needed to nurture our skin:

1. Fatty fish
Fatty fish, like mackerel, herring, and salmon, are great foods for promoting healthy skin. They contain omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for keeping your skin moisturized, supple, and thick. Its deficiency could lead to dry skin. These fats reduce acne and redness caused by inflammation. The fats also reduce your skin’s sensitivity to the harmful UV rays of the sun.

2. Green tea
Your skin may be protected from aging and damage due to the consumption of green tea. Catechins, powerful compounds in the tea, aim to improve your skin’s health in various ways. This tea, like other foods containing antioxidants, protects your skin from skin damage. A study where 60 women were used showed that daily consumption could potentially reduce redness on the skin from sun exposure by 25%.

3. Kiwi fruit
This tiny, fuzzy, brown fruit contains plenty of antioxidants and Vitamin C, which are excellent for healthy teeth and bones, help prevent wrinkles, and keep skin firm. These antioxidants also protect you against heart disease and cancer.

4. Water
Drinking around 8 glasses every day helps get rid of toxins from the skin and body. Water hydrates the skin and gives it a radiant glow. The skin elasticity is increased by staying hydrated. This elasticity delays the process of the skin sagging as well as premature fine lines and wrinkles.

5. Eggs
Eggs help hydrate, firm, and soften the skin. It contains amino acids that aid in generating new skin cells. A study claims that zeaxanthin and lutein, two antioxidants found in an egg, are known to increase protection against harmful UV rays. The UV damage could lead to cancer, brown spots, and lines. Consuming an egg a day would increase blood levels of zeaxanthin and lutein.

6. Safflower oil
The oil from safflower seeds contains high amounts of vitamin E, which has many health benefits. Also, Safflower oil has omega-6 fatty acids. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and fights against free radicals. These free radicals are molecules that attack collagen and age the skin prematurely. When exposed to extreme amounts of UV radiation, free radicals are produced by the body. These free radicals cause loss of elasticity of the skin and contribute significantly to aging skin, wrinkles, crow’s feet, and fine lines.

7. Brazil nuts
These nuts contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids and are a good source of selenium. Selenium is responsible for relieving inflammation like acne and pimples as well as improving skin elasticity.
