6 Acid Reflux Relief Foods to Eat

For instance, the following foods are known for reducing stomach acidity and helping to soothe acid reflux symptoms:

1. Bananas
Excess acid can trigger acid reflux. That is why it is important to choose alkaline, or low-acid foods. Bananas are low in acid. They also have high fiber content. The fiber can improve your digestion. When food stays in your stomach for long periods of time, your stomach creates more acid.

2. Chicken and seafood
Chicken and seafood can help soothe the effects of heartburn and acid reflux. However, it is important for you to avoid frying the seafood. It is best for you to eat it sauteed, baked or grilled. You should also choose wild caught seafood over farm-raised seafood.

3. Egg whites
While egg yolks can trigger acid reflux, egg whites are great for acid reflux. An egg white is an alkaline. The PH of the egg white is around 7.6. Egg whites also contain vitamin A, B12 and D.

4. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a staple breakfast food. It is also great for people who are suffering from acid reflux disease. The fiber in this food helps improve your digestive health. Not only can the fiber ease constipation, but it can also keep you full. If you get full off of less food, then you will be less likely to regurgitate. It is best for you to eat it with almond milk. Almond milk is also low in acid compared to animal sourced milks.

5. Low acid fruits
Fruit is one of the best foods that you can eat. However, if you have acid reflux, then you have to be careful about the type of fruit that you eat. You will need to eat low acid fruits. Cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelons are some of the best foods for you to eat. Melons are also high in magnesium. This is an important nutrient that many people are low in. Melons have a PH of 6.1, which means that they are very low in acid.

6. Ginger
Ginger is an herbal spice that it used to add flavor to your food. It is also used for medicinal purposes. Additionally, it is great for people who suffer from acid reflux. There are several ways that it can help with acid reflux. This herb can stop the acid from going back into your esophagus. It also has anti-inflammatory benefits. That is why it is great for reducing heartburn. Furthermore, this herb has phenolic compounds. These compounds can reduce the irritation in the digestive system. If your digestive system is less irritated, then acid will be less likely to flow backwards.
